About Us

Amma Services and Development Society

Working towards empowering women

Amma Services and Development Society (ASDS) is a non-profit organization established in the year 2020. We at ASDS believe that women's empowerment is a critical aspect of achieving gender equality. It includes increasing a woman's sense of self-worth, her decision-making power, her access to opportunities and resources, her power and control over her own life inside and outside the home, and her ability to effect change. We aim to boost women's status through literacy, education, training, and awareness creation.

Our aim is to work with women sex workers, single women, widowed women, migrant women workers and raise awareness about anti-trafficking (children), health issues related to HIV, AIDS and provide them with regular medicine and nutrition.

With the help of the National Network of Sex Workers (NNSW) and WINS NGO, we network with these women to raise awareness of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and comprehensive Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) prevention interventions

Our focus areas

An integrated approach to build a equitable and empowered society

Mission & Vision

OUR VISION

To build a community of women who can get insight and knowledge into the key area of their lives

OUR MISSION

To empower women in social and economic dimensions through financial inclusion

Our Programs

Women empowerment

Investing in women's empowerment sets a direct path toward gender equality, poverty eradication, health, and inclusive economic growth. Women make enormous contributions to economies, whether in businesses, on farms, as entrepreneurs or employees, or by doing unpaid care work at home. We at ASDS help women in the Kanchikerla Mandal to form self-help groups, create awareness about health, distribute grocery kits, etc., among others.

Awareness about AIDS and contraception

Female Sex Workers (FSWs) are predisposed to a broad range of social, sexual, and reproductive health problems such as sexually transmitted infections (STIs)/HIV, unintended pregnancy, violence, sexual exploitation, stigma, and discrimination. Female sex workers have an unmet need for contraceptives and require comprehensive Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) prevention interventions.

All these vulnerabilities, coupled with women’s low status, repeated human rights violations, poor educational or economic opportunities and poor attitudes towards sex and sexuality, poor knowledge and access to modern contraceptive methods predispose women, and particularly FSWs, to a host of other STI risk factors.

We educate these women on human rights, educate them on how to protect their children against child marriages, and also give information on several government schemes.

International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers

International Day to And Violence Against Sex Workers program was conducted in the society's office under the aegis of Amma Services and Development Society.  As part of this, a call has been made to stop violence against sex workers. The program was organized by CBO members to legalize sex work.  It was also to create awareness on trafficking, poverty of women, and to oppose child marriage and the child labour system. These issues were discussed with the member.

Sivalakshmi said that our programmes should be widely publicised and for this, we should take up awareness programmes to combat discrimination and violence against sex workers, aids control programmes, and eradication of child labour.

Speaking to the members, Uma Devi said, "If we can successfully take every single program that we are taking up against the violence of the police, then there will be a way to stop violence against sex workers.

Amma CPO No. Jyothi said that our sex workers are being tortured not only physically but also economically, socially and culturally too. We need to stop the exploitations and atrocities committed by the police.

Gandham Nagamani explained that the police should listen to every discrimination against sex workers and what kind of violence has taken place and register a case so that justice is done so that the sex workers are respected.

Amma Service Centre - Shivalakshmi, Umadevi, Nagamani, Jyothi, Seetha Mahalakshmi, Neeraja, Suguna, Lavanya, Durga and others participated in the event. Totally, 25 members participated in the event.
